A Few Tidbits about the March birthstone: Aquamarine

I've gathered a few facts about the birthstone for March and I hope you have fun learning about the beautiful Aquamarine.  :')

-The name aquamarine come from Latin words meaning water and sea.

-Aquamarine is a member of the beryl family of stones. The beryl family also includes emerald (green beryl), and morganite (pink beryl).

-Aquamarines are mined in Kenya, Nigeria, Madagascar, Zambia, Tanzania, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Afghanistan, and Russia but the most valuable come from Brazil.

-Aquamarines have been said to increase intelligence and make one youthful as well as endowing the wearer with happiness and courage.

-One legend says the sailors wore aquamarines for protection on the water and to prevent seasickness.

-Another legend says that one could prolong their life after drinking water with an aquamarine in
it.

Pictured above is my original design: the "Clouds and Raindrop" necklace made of sterling silver and aquamarine as the raindrop. The necklace also has my signature handmade clasp. The pale blue color of the aquamarines reminded me of water so it was the perfect choice for this design! The earrings I simply call "Raindrops".
