Giving Back
Since I started my business, it's been a goal of mine to be able to support causes that are worthwhile and close to my heart. I am happy to report that this year, I will attain this goal. I won't be doing it alone though...each and every person who purchases my jewelry will help and I'd like to say thank you!
I have thought long and hard about which charities and causes to donate to. I've conducted a little research on sites such as Charity Navigator and I'm fairly certain that most of the donations will be spent on actual programs, which is important to me. This year's charities are as follows:
2013:
1. USO-The USO provides a tangible way for all of us to say thank you, as it has for 70 years, and express appreciation and gratitude for the dedication and sacrifice of our troops and their families.
2. Cancer Research Institute-In memory of my father who died from cancer.
3. IFAW- The International Fund for Animal Welfare works to improve animal welfare, prevent animal cruelty and abuse, protect wildlife and provide animal rescue around the world.
4. Seattle Humane Society-The Seattle Humane Society's mission is to bring people and pets together for lifelong relationships.
5. Dr. Michael Tam, OD- My brother, through his church, and along with other medical professionals and church members, makes a trip approximately once a year to offer free medical care in impoverished areas. Countries he has visited
include Vietnam (four times), the Philippines, and Cambodia.
